#Turkey: Fenerbahce win a dramatic five-set match against Arkas to earn a 1-0 lead in final series!

2 min read

Fenerbahce have made the first step towards the Turkish Efelerligi trophy. They have almost dropped the lead in the playoff finals first game. They had a 2-0 lead but in the next two sets there was a great reaction of Arkasspor: after the clearly defeat in the first 2 sets Hoag changes the cards with Kaya, Bravo and Sikar instead of Murilo Radke, Taht and Koc and the move was fruitful.
The away side, led by Adis Lagumdzija, managed to level the score in sets but it seems they spent all their strenghts to stay in the race for the victory.
In fact, Fenerbahce smashed them in the tie-break to take the lead in the finals: the 5 points in attack (63% for him at the end of the match) of Hidalgo and the aces of Ter Maat (1) and Karasu (1) make the difference, while Lagumdzija after dragging his team for the whole match falls in the final (2 on 5 and 1 blocked in the fifth set in attack).

Wouter Ter Maat was the most dominant player in the home team with 25 points, while Salvador Hidalgo contributed with 19 points. Lagumdzija was the top scorer for Arkas with 24 points, 63% in attack and 2 winning-blocks.
