What a transfers bomb in China! One of the most popular Iranian player, the setter Saeid Marouf, has joined Beijing.
Tehran Times reported that the 33-year-old Iran national team setter joined the Chinese runners-up Beijing on a one-year contract. They also reported that details of the athlete’s contract have not been released.
The 2-time Iranian Best Volleyball Player of the Year Marouf will play along with Cuban Leonardo Leyva and French Kévin Tillie. Beijing is Marouf’s 3rd foreign club in his career: he has already played at Zenit Kazan, Russia, in 2014/15 season and at Emma Villas Siena, Italy, last season.
Marouf has won Asian Championship once and Asian Games and Asian Cup twice each with Iran. On a club level, he won the CEV Champions League and Russian Championship once each and both with Zenit Kazan, Asian Club Championship twice with Paykan Tehran and Matin Varamin and Iranian Championship 3 times with three different clubs: Sanam Tehran, Kalleh Mazandaran and Matin Varamin. Individually, he was named MVP of the Asian Championship once and Best Setter of the Asian Championship, Asian Cup and FIVB World League one-time each.
