Our ‘unofficial’ new is confirmed: European Olympic Qualifier will be to Berlin!

1 min read

The European Volleyball Federation (CEV) announced that it has awarded the organization of the European Olympic Qualifier to the German Volleyball Federation (DVV).
So, our ‘unofficial’ information has been confirmed: Germany will host the European Qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics from January 5 to January 10, 2020!
The event in which eight european national teams (including France, Serbia and the hosts of Germany) will fight for one place in the Olympics will be the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin.
So, after 2012 and 2016, the German capital will host the continental Olympic qualifications for the third time in a row, while DVV was awarded to organize the event for the fourth straight time.

The Olympic qualification in Berlin will be played with the best seven teams in the European ranking who have not yet qualified for the Tokyo Games, plus the hosts. The definitive ranking that will be considered for participating in the qualifications will be the one released at the end of the 2019 EuroVolley, on September 30.
Poland, Italy and Russia are the only three teams from Europe that have secured their place in Tokyo at this moment.
