Russia gave no chance to Greece to become the second team to advance to the quarter-finals. In the match that took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the reigning champions destroyed rivals in straight sets in only 71 minutes of a play, partially 25:16, 25:15 and 25:16. Even if Greece started the match with great determination, it was enough and Russia was really too stark for them.
Dmitriy Volkov led his team with 18 points, while Ivan Iakovlev added 4 winning blocks. Greece’s top scorers, Andreas-Dimitrios Fragkos and Georgios Papalexiou ended the match with 6 points each.
