France: Reigning Champions are awakened! Tours sweep Tourcoing to record first win in Round 4. Nantes and Toulouse ok.
Nantes win away at tie break vs.Sete, Toulouse needed four sets to win at home against Narbonne while, after suffering defeats in all three games since the beginning of the 2019/20 season, Tours records first victory by destroying Tourcoing in straight sets.
Nantes prevented Sète to take the provisional lead in the standings by recording a 3-2 away victory. Slovakian opposite hitter Peter Michalovič was, once again, the best on the winning side: this time he scored 18 points, while Belarussian-Russian duo Vasyl Tupchii and Vyacheslav Tarasov scored 47 points combined. Tupchii scored 24, while Tarasov made one point less.
With 12 aces, against the 3 of the opponents, Toulouse record at 3-1 victory at home vs. Narbonne, while the defending champions Tours needed as much as four rounds to record the first victory in the 2019/20 French Volleyball Championship regular season!
After suffering defeats in all three games since the beginning of the new season, they showed their strength that drove them to a title last season against none other than leaders in the standings Tourcoing: 3-0 (25:18, 25:16, 25:20). Despite the worst start to the season in more than 20 years, Tours’ fans did not turn their back on theirs players, filling the stands of the Robert Grenon hall nearly to the top: 2,500 spectators! Led by Hermans Egleskalns, Tours downed Tourcoing, who was undefeated prior to the match. Latvian opposite scored 22 points through amazing attack success rate of 82% (18/22)!
