Turkey: Halkbank lose vs. Galatasaray to stay winless after 2 rounds, Ter Maat again on high level in Fenerbahçe

Galatasaray HDI Sigorta created second defeat to multiple titleholders Halkbank in the 2019/20 Turkish Volleyball Championship regular season: they swept the rivals on the road in straight sets (25:22, 25:23, 25:23) to make it 2 out of 2 in the 2019/20 AXA Sigorta Efeler Ligi regular season. At the same time, by losing to the Istanbul team, the nine-time champions Halkbank made a bad start of the season (0-2). Estonian opposite hitter Oliver Venno led Galatasaray with 15 points, while Metin Toy scored 17 for Halkbank.
The Dutchman Wouter ter Maat made one more huge performance for Fenerbahçe HDI Sigorta: He improved his output from an opening-round by 4 points and poured in 30 in the 3-1 (25:9, 25:17, 21:25, 25:18) victory of his team against hosts Tokat Belediye Plevne. The 28-year-old opposite had, in addition, an impressive attack success rate of 71% (25/35). With this success, Fenerbahçe joined the six-team group of the invincibles.
Surprisingly, Spor Toto (former Maliye Piyango) is one of those six teams with a perfect record. The team from Ankara, defeated İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi Spor Kulübü in straight sets thanks to Ugandan opposite Daudi Okello who scored 14 points.
