Poland: Resovia finally claim a victory, ZAKSA struggle to down Ślepsk

Asseco Resovia Rzeszów wrote down their first victory in the 2019/20 Polish Plusliga Volleyball Championship regular season, and they have finally given their fans a reason to be happy. The multiple champions needed four matches to claim the first win this season. Resovia downed BKS Visła Bydgoszcz in an advanced match of Round 5 in straight sets (25:21, 25:18, 25:22). Canadian Nicholas Hoag was the most prolific player for the winning side with 17 points while Slovenian Tonček Štern scored 15 for Bydgoszcz.
On the other match, MKS Ślepsk Malow Suwałki provided strong resistance to the titleholders and first-placed side in the current standing Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, but have fallen in four sets: 3-1 (21:25, 25:20, 25:20, 27:25). The PlusLiga newcomers took the opening set of the postponed match of Round 1 and failed to convert a set point at 25:24 in the fourth set. Łukasz Kaczmarek was the top scorer for ZAKSA with 16 points, while the Frenchman Nicolas Szerszeń scored 13 points for Ślepsk. Patryk Szwaradzki served 4 aces, while Wojciech Siek made 4 winning blocks.
