The two advances of Round 6 of the French Ligue A were played this evening. Surprising victory for Paris in straight sets on the field of the current leader Sete, while Nice falls again at the tie break, this time against Chaumont.
In details, a very convincing Paris claims its second Ligue A victory, defeating the current leader of the ranking, Sete, who played on the home court, in straight sets. The difference probably was made by the blocks: 13 for the winners (of which 4 made by Lafitte), and only 6 for the hosts. Kreek and Barreto Silva were the top scorers of Paris with 11 points each, while Tupchii scored 16 on the other side.
In the other game played tonight, Nice fought against Chaumont until the tie break, making an incredible comeback in the fourth set in which the guests were ahead 3-8 and then 10-16. However, this was not enough and Chaumont always led the game in the five set, winning 11-15 and taking home two deserved points.
Cox was once again the best for Nice with 20 points, while Cuk added 13, with 78% in attack and 6 winning blocks (17 in total for his team, against 14 for Chaumont). Winkelmuller and Yant Herrera scored 28 and 27 points respectively for the winners!
Nice remains alone at the bottom of the standings while Chaumont rises momentarily to fifth place with 10 points (like Cannes, that tomorrow will face Ajaccio away).
Tomorrow the others…
