2 min read

Round 8 of the French championship was played today. Tours easily wins in straight sets on Sete’s field, and Paris wins at home against Narbonne with the same result. Another defeat for Nice, this time at home against Montpellier. Home wins also for Chaumont and Rennes, who win respectively against Cannes and Poitiers. Tourcoing won in five sets away vs. Nantes, while Ajaccio destroys Toulouse in straight sets.
In details, easy victory for Tours on the Sete field. The reigning champions did not allow rivals to reach 20 points in a single set! Only Tupchii reached a double digit performance for the hosts (13 points and 46% in attack, including two winning blocks), while Egleskalns was the top scorer for the winners with 14 points. Great performance also for Tours’ middleblockers: Teryomenko scored 13 points (including 2 winning blocks, with 91% in attack!), While Tammemaa scored 11 including 4 winning blocks.
11 aces (against the 3 of Paris) and Bisset’s 21 points were not enough for Narbonne to compete against the home team. Paris scored a well deserved straight sets victory, thanks to a superb attacking performance. The Dutch opposite Overbeeke was the top scorer for the winners with 12 points.
Another defeat for Nice, which is confirmed alone at the bottom of the standings (with 4 points), this time at home against Montpellier, which now is second in the standings with 18 points. Sclater was the top scorer for the winners, that recorded their sixth victory in a row, with 22 points, while the setter Gonzalez scored 12 points, including 5 winning blocks and 8/7 in attack (88%)! Cox scored 22 for Nice.
Another bad defeat for Cannes, away vs. Chaumont. After an exciting start to the season, this was a really terrible game, with no player reaching a double digit performance. Atanasov was the top scorer of this without-story-match with 13 points.
Rennes, the current leader of the standings with 20 points and a 6-2 score, wins a real battle lasting four sets against Poitiers with 29 points of Rodrigues, while another battle was played, with up and downs in both sides, between Nantes and Tourcoing. In the end he won Tourcoing, thanks to the 28 points of Jimenez and 22 scored by Kujundzic.
Closes the picture Ajaccio who back to the victory, literally destroying Toulouse at home in straight sets. Only in the second set did the guests fight, taking a lead of 11:16, but Ajaccio skillfully canceled to win the partial 25:22. Ben Tara and Truhtcev led the hosts to the victory, scoring 15 and 16 points respectively.
