Turkish volleyball powerhouse Halkbank reinforced its roster with the Slovenian opposite Tonček Štern, trying to fix the bad first half of the season in which they are only 7th in the national championship and last-placed in their CEV Champions League pool.
The 24-year-old opposite has found the new club to play in for the rest of the season after parting ways with BKS Visła Bydgoszcz, Poland.
He wore the jersey of the Slovenia National Team in 85 matches, taking the silver medal in the last CEV European Championship. He was also part of the national team in winning the 2019 FIVB Challenger Cup. On a club level, Tonček Štern won the Slovenian Cup one time. Tonček comes from a volleyball family as his older sibling Žiga is also a professional player and furthermore, a member of the country’s national team.
