Austria: Ried destroys Amstetten in Game 1 of quarter-final

UVC Weberzeile Ried takes the first step towards DenizBank AG VL semi-final on Friday evening, winning the opening game of the “Best of 3” playoff series 3-0 vs. VCA Amstetten NÖ in straight sets, partially 25:18, 25:15, 25:23. Game 2 will take place next Wednesday in Ried.
Franco Slomp Drago with 15 points and Keaton Strom with 10 were the top scorer for the home team, while Tomasz Rutecki poured in 19 for the winners. The statistics reflect the clear result: Ried scored more attack points (41:33), scored twice as many block points (8:4) and also made fewer errors (18:24).
Recall that, on Wednesday, UVC Holding Graz beat VBC TLC Weiz and Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel won against Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt in straight sets.
The quarter-final series between reigning champions SK Zadruga Aich / Dob and TJ Sokol Wien V starts on Sunday in the Wien Posthalle.
