France: 13/14 presidents ask to cancel the championship
With the championships already suspended by the Federation since last March 13, today 13 of the 14 presidents (all except the president of the already relegated Nice) of the Men’s League A (LAM) have submitted a joint declaration asking the National Volleyball League (LNV) to cancel completely the championship for the crisis related to COVID-19. A “white season” that would see no title winner and no relegation. Only Alain Griguer, president of Nice Volley-Ball and president of the LNV, has not signed the declaration.
The final decision will be taken by the LNV management committee and everything seems to be heading towards a definitive stop.
“In the face of the exponential development of the Covid-19 epidemic that deprives the country and professional volleyball of any medium-term visibility, the presidents of the men’s League A clubs met urgently on Monday“, the Presidents write in a press release “Aware of their human, health and civil responsibilities, they unanimously request that the LNV management committee decide on Thursday 19 March to end the 2019/20 French championship. It is agreed that the title of French champion will not be awarded this season.”
