The Management Board of the Polish Volleyball League has decided to end both men’s and women’s championship.
After the suspension of Plusliga until further notice, on March 12th, the Polska Liga Siatkówki has decided today to end the 2019/20 Men’s Championship (PlusLiga) and 2019/20 Women’s Championship (Liga Siatkówki Kobiet).
However, the governing body of the club volleyball in Poland made different decisions regarding the champions in these two competitions.
Because the regular season in PlusLiga didn’t complete, men’s champions won’t be awarded. Three leading teams in the ranking will be entitled to compete in the 2021 CEV Champions League (ZAKSA Kedzierzyn- Kozle, Verva Warsaw Orlen Paliwa , and PGE Skra Belchatow). The BKS Visla Bydgoszcz is relegated, while Stal Nysa (1st at the time of suspension in 1.Liga) and BBTS Bielsko-Biala (2nd) will be able to apply for a presence in Plusliga in 2020/21 season, and the first will take precedence if there are the financial requirements (third option is Bydgoszcz itself).
Since the Liga Siatkówki Kobiet regular season was completed, the Polish Volleyball League awarded the title to the winners of this stage, Grupa Azoty Chemik Police. Developres SkyRes Rzeszów will receive the silver medal and ŁKS Commercecon Łódź the bronze medal. In addition, Chemik and Developres earned the right to compete in the 2021 CEV Champions League.
At this very moment, the number of people infected by the new COVID-19 in Poland is 1,031. The death toll is 14.
