France: great victory for Cannes over Tours, Ajaccio surrenders to Poitiers after five sets

If after 7 months, French championship 2020/21 started again yesterday with two straight-sets-victories…both matches played today ended in five sets. Cannes celebrated a great home victory over the (supposedly, after the last suspended season) reigning champions of Tours, while Ajaccio surrendered to Poitiers with the same result.
In details, great battle in Cannes. After 5 sets with alternating currents, it was the hosts who deservedly took the two points, after being practically always behind in the decisive fifth set. Australian opposite Lincoln Williams was the absolute man of the match for the winners: 26 points, 51% in attack, 4 (of Cannes’ 10) winning blocks and one ace. Danijel Koncilja and Adrian Aciobanitei scored 12 points each. Tours ‘captain Nathan Wounembaina scored 18 on the other side of the net, while Nascimento Dos Santos made 5 of his team’s 12 winning blocks. 📸 PHOTOGALLERY OF THE MATCH
On the other match Ajaccio, after winning the second and third sets, wasted a 2-1 lead and was defeated at the tie break. The masterful performance with block of the hosts was not enough: 20 points (!!!) in total (Jouffroy 6, Graham 5, Quesque 4, Kolev and Halilovic 2, Romero 1). In any case, Poitiers was more effective especially in the fourth and fifth set, in which they literally destroyed the opponents (8:15). Raffaelli and Neves Atu scored 21 and 20 points respectively for the winners, while Romero and Kolev scored 18 and 15 points for Ajaccio.
