Italy: Verona shock Trentino, Lube barely down Ravenna, Padova, Modena and Perugia ok

The second round of the Italian Superlega CredemBanca regular season has been completed.
Lube Civitanova have scored the second victory in the competition, playing a very difficult match against a fierce Ravenna, and in fact the match ended in five sets, partially 23:25, 25:22, 25:14, 23:25, 15:9). Yoandy Leal and Kamil Rychklicki were the top scorers in Lube with 18 points each, while Giulio Pinali had 22 points on the other side.
Trento have suffered the first defeat in the season 2020/2021. They lost to Verona on the home court in straight sets 28:26, 25:23, 25:21. Nimir Abdelaziz was the best scorer of the match but that didn’t help Trento win at least a set. Thomas Jaeschke had 14 points and Stephen Boyer added 12 for the winners.
In Piacenza, Perugia’s Wilfredo Leon and Oleh Plotnytskyi led their team to the win over the hosts by 3-1. The Cuban-born player scored 19 points, while Oleh also contributed with 16. In Piacenza, Georg Grozer and Aaron Russell scored 13 points each.
After losing the match in the first round, today Modena have scored a straight sets victory beating Vibo Valentia 3-0, partially 25:21, 28:26, 25:20). Moritz Karlitzek was the best scorer with 19 points, while Nemanja Petric contributed with 14 points. Aboubacar Drame Neto ended the match with 16 points on the other side of the net.
Close the picture another straight sets victory: that of Padova on Cisterna’s field. Still without the starting opposite Sabbi, for Cisterna is second defeat in as many games. Stern and Bottolo top-scored for the winners with 16 points each, while among the hosts, no players reached a double digit performance…
