Coupe de France: road to 2025/26 Final, Paris – Nice!

3 min read

Coupe de France 2025/26: Gran Finale will be played tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. local time at the Adidas Arena in Paris, where Paris (10th in the regular season) will face Nice, which finished their Marmara Spike League path in eighth place.
Both teams also played their respective play-ins derbies on Wednesday against Plessis Robinson and Cannes, and both lost, 3-1 (at home) and 3-0 (at Palais des Victoire) and must win by the same scoreline on Tuesday, including the Golden Set, to advance to the playoffs, in which they’ll face Tours and Montpellier, respectively.
But what about Coupe de France?

The home team, Paris, started their campaign on November 4, with a four sets home win over Toulouse in a clash between two Ligue A sides, and continues with a victory with the same result on the field of Saint Jean D’Illac, currently fourth-placed in Ligue B.
In quarterfinals, they defeated (and eliminated) Potiers after a 3-0 success and then, in semifinal, they faced Chaumont (a powerhouse of French volleyball who struggled a lot this season, closing its games with only 26 points in regular season and a disappointing 12th place), winning the home games at tie break, 15-13 in decisive fifth set.
Paris won French Cup in 1997 (as Paris Université Club), 1999, 2000, 2001 and, for the last time, in 2004, more precisely 22 years ago, since the competition’s creation in 1983!
Last Final the team from country’s capital played was in 2013/14 season, at Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris, in which they lost against Tours 3-1 (25:16 21:25 25:23 25:19).

Nice, on the other hand, easily sweep Plessis Robinson on the road in 1/8 Finals, played on November 24, closing the game in straight sets, and then eliminated Martigues (now to the top of Ligue B) in four sets, after losing the first one and then winning their away game without major problems in quarterfinals.
However, they made a killing in semifinal in which, after a 2-0 lead of the hosts TOURS, staged an incredible comeback to eventually win the game, eliminating the super favorites (victorious 11 times in Coupe de France) after an exciting tie break, ended 13-15!
For Nice, this is the historical second time in which the club reach the final of this competition after the 2022/23 edition, when they heavily lost 3-0 (25:21, 25:21, 25:18), also in Paris, at Halle Georges-Carpentier, against Tours.

In 2025/26 Marmara Spike League, the two clubs faced each others two times, in Round 7 played on November 20 in Paris, where Nice won in four sets after losing first one, with 13 winning blocks and 22 points from Dawid Dulski, and in Round 24 in Nice, on March 5, in which the visiting side won in straight sets, with 17 points from Vasily Molotkov and 16 from MVP Timeo Secretant.
In recent history, in last 12 games played between the two clubs, Paris won 9 times, and Nice 3.

Individually, François Huetz earned LNV trophy as best middle blocker of 2025/26 season, with the jersey of Paris, in top 4 together with Nice’s Merrick McHenry.
In top 4 as best opposites also Paris’ Vasily Molotkov and Nice’s Dawid Dulski (second top scorer of 2025/26 season with more than 500 points recorded), while his teammate Shay Liberman appeared in top 4 of the best outside hitter of the competition.

Who will win 2025/26 Coupe de France Final in Paris?
