France: Chaumont with maximum points. Tourcoing, Cannes, Tours and Poitiers ok.

2 min read

Five of the seven matches of French Ligue A Round 2 were played tonight. Of the teams who took to the field in both rounds, the only one with full points is Chaumont who, despite Steven Marshall’s bad day (3/19 in attack, 5 blocked and 2 errors) defeated Ajaccio in four sets. Another good performance from the second opposite Jeanlys, on the field instead of the injured Herrera.
Tourcoing of the Argentine national team members Sanchez, Loser and Palonsky won at the tie-break away against Paris, without Overbeeke, while Cannes wins in four sets in Narbonne. The hosts paid the bad day of the outside-hitters Zanotti and Bassereau.
Two games ended at the tie-break. Poitiers beat Séte, led by the Brazilian opposite Neves Atu, author of 34 points. 34 points and a well-deserved MVP award also for Michalovic, but the Slovakian’s performance was not enough for Nantes to win away against the defending champions of Tours. The guests are left with regret for having wasted a match point in the 4th set, and then also an advantage of 10:13 and another 4 match points in fifth set, which eventually ended on 19:17 with the protests of Nantes, in particular for assigning the point of 15:15. In any case, great performance of the guests who, in addition, made 18 winning blocks.
Postponed for COVID, Cambrai – Toulouse, scheduled for November 11, and Montpellier – Nice, postponed until further notice.
