Austria: Klagenfurt defeats Weiz to take second place in the standings

VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt celebrated a 3:1 home victory (25:14, 17:25, 31:29, 25:20) home against VBC TLC Weiz on Wednesday evening. Thanks to the sixth success of the season, the Carinthians improved to second place in the DenizBank AG VL basic round phase 2 behind leader TJ Sokol Wien V and ahead of UVC Weberzeile Ried.
Top scorer for the winners were captain Simon Frühbauer with 20 points and David Petschnig with 15, while Jakob Grasserbauer tallied 14 on the other side. The hosts were better from the service line, served 9 aces (against 1 for Weiz).
