On the last day of the Pool stage, all eyes were on pool D in Modena to decide the last two qualifiers. The sensational 0-3 inflicted by Knack Roeselare at Leo Shoes Modena sent Berlin Recycling Volleys (that, in their Pool, could benefit from 2 victories after the forfeit of Jastrzebski Wegiel) to the quarterfinals as third best second. The last match between Warsaw and Kemerovo (back to field with the starting lineup) instead awarded first place in the Pool. The verdict came only at the last minute, with the victory of the Russian team that assigned the first place in the Pool to Modena for best points quotient over Warsaw. In the decisive set, the Polish team would have been enough to score 9 points, but they started under 0:6 on Zaytsev’s turn from the service line, and sink to 2:11, suffering a sensational 5:15 that cost elimination.
