Italy: Monza and Milano win recovery matches of Round 14 and 16 and close 2020/21 regular season

2 min read

The regular season of Italian Superlega Credem Banca officially ended yesterday evening. In the recovery matches of Rounds 14 and 16 Monza and Milano win, with Monza that claim a historic fourth place (the best in the standings ever) overtaking Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia. Fourteenth victory of the season, eighth on their home court which, added to the streak of seven consecutive wins between first and second leg, are all precious records in the exciting season of the team coached by Massimo Eccheli.
The turns from the service line of Dzavoronok (MVP of the match with 16 points including 3 aces) and a good performance also for Lanza and Lagumdzija, and the setter Orduna, were decisive for the winner that, in preliminary phase of playoffs, will face Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia themselves!

In the other match, valid for round 16, Allianz Milano wins on the field of an experimental Consar Ravenna, without Zonca (Coronavirus) and Stefani, Koppers and Giuliani for the first time in the starting six. In a game that is absolutely irrelevant for the standings, with the two teams being respectively tenth and eighth, the final result is 1-3, with Kozamernik MVP of the match with 11 points and 91% in attack, and Milano closing the regular season with 11 wins and 11 defeats.
