Poland: reconstructed ZAKSA starts new season on right foot. Three points also for Resovia

2 min read

The champions of Europe Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle started the new season of the Polish Plusliga with a victory.
The PlusLiga runners-up and CEV Champions League titleholders, in the derby of the Upper Silesia region, defeated Stal Nysa 3-0 (25:22, 25:21, 25:20).
Achieving a confident win with the highly reconstructed squad (lost head coach Grbić and a large group of starters including Toniutti, Zatorski and Kochanowski), ZAKSA showed it will not give up on vying for the title in Poland.
Totally the opposite of them, Stal Nysa kept as many as nine players from the last season.
Kamil Semeniuk stood out for the side commanded by Romanian Gheorghe Crețu with 16 points and 65% in attack, and was named MVP of the match.

Mostly thanks to Belgian Sam Deroo (14 points) and Maciej Muzaj (five aces), Asseco Resovia Rzeszów (despite Kochanowski on the bench) defeats Indykpol AZS Olsztyn in straight sets, with a great performance from the service line: 8 aces with only 11 errors for the winners, against 6 aces and 15 errors for the home team.
Big difficulties in attack for Olsztyn who finished with 38% in attack and 16% of team efficiency despite the positive entries from the bench by Salehi and Krol.
Olsztyn relocated to nearby city of Iława due to renovation of their hall Urania.
