Russia: Kazan new leader! 3-1 in big match against Novosibirsk. Win also for Nizhnevartovsk and Kemerovo

Round 8 of the Russian 2021/22 Superliga Parimatch ended today with 4 matches.

Zenit-Kazan, who induct Alekno into Hall of Fame before beating Lokomotiv in big match of the day, are the new leaders with 22 points (one point more than today’s rivals).
Before this match, ended by 3-1 (26:28, 25:16, 25:19, 25:18), Lokomotiv was the only undefeated side in the competition.
Apart from the first set, which they lost, Zenit (who confirmed in the sexter youngs Kononov and Fedorov in place of Volkov and Golubev) unexpectedly took the rest of the sets with ease, obtaining early leads in each of them (11-6 in the second set, 5-1 in the third set, and even 12-4 in the fourth set).
After first very balanced first set, with a set point canceled, the siberian side saw collapsed their attack (68% in favor of Kazan vs. 26% in second set, 55% vs. 40% in third, and 50% vs. 42 in fourth), while all good numbers also for Mikhaylov (57% in attack and 47% efficiency), Volkov (54% in attack and 27% efficiency) and Bednorz (52% in attack and 43% efficiency).
Maksim Mikhaylov scored in fact game-high 20 points, while American Micah Christenson and Dmitriy Volkov were the best on the block with four points each. 9 points for setter Christenson, who also included 3/5 in attack and 2 aces.
Serbian Dražen Luburić was the only player in Lokomotiv, whose seven-match winning streak from the start of the season was interrupted, to have double digits on the other side of the net (12 points).

Before the start of the match, the legendary coach Vladimir Alekno, who had been at the helm of the team for 13 seasons, was inducted into the Zenit-Kazan Hall of Fame, joining six players there: Sergey Tetyukhin, Lloy Ball, Matthew Anderson, Igor Shulepov, Dmitry Fomin and Ruslan Olikhver.

On the other matches, try to come out of the crisis Kuzbass Kemerovo: despite the absences of Alan e Obmochaev, they defeated Belogorie Belgorod in five sets. Led by Al Hachdadi (39 points with 59% and 38% efficiency) they come back from a two sets deficit and then from 14-11 to 14-15 at tie break, but they wasted 3 match points to surrender 20-18 on Sivozhelez’s counterattack.
Too many the 39 errors against 24 of the hosts.
Straight sets home win of Nizhnevartovsk over Surgut close the picture.
