Poland: Belchatow go from 0-2 to 3-2 against Resovia in big match of Round 8 and PlusLiga classic

2 min read

Fierce rivals PGE Skra Bełchatów and Asseco Resovia Rzeszów closed Round 8 of the 2021/22 Polish Plusliga on Monday evening, and the result of the game was uncertain until the last ball.
Skra defeated Resovia 3-2 but only after coming back from two sets down, and the face-offs between these two teams have evoked interest for years, with their rivalry being born in the first half of the 2000s when they won titles, very often ones over the others.
For that reason, duels between theae two are called ‘Klasyk PlusLigi’ (literally, the PlusLiga classic).
Despite they are now far from the very top of the standings, with Resovia are far for years and not only this season, being neighbors in the table before the match and remaining so after it: Skra are sixth, and Resovia seventh.

After first two sets, in which Resovia made the difference above all in serving, from third set things change, also in this element (in fourth set, Taht was decisive, in the sexter from third sets in place of Kooy, with the services that worth 8-10 to 14-10).
Tie break reamain very balanced until
10-10, then 3 bombs from the service line by Atanasijevic (MVP of the match with 22 punti, 61% in attack and 45% efficiency, 1 block and 1 ace) worth 2 blocks and one direct point for Klos (13-10), author of 15 points with 91% in attack, 4 blocks and 1 ace.
After the error in serving by the Serbian opposite, 13-11, enter Bucki in serving in place of Muzaj, a change that leveled the score again, 13-13. But Atanasijevic signs the 14-13 and, after a good serve by Taht, a Klos’ block over Muzaj close the game 15-13.

In addition to Serbian Aleksandar Atanasijević who top-scored the winning side, Estonian Robert Täht served four aces, while Karol Kłos set up four blocks and had 91% attack (10/11).
