2 min read

Slovenia’s OK Merkur Maribor celebrated a hard-fought 3-1 (25:21, 22:25, 28:26, 26:24) home victory over Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel on Monday night to consolidate the second place in the current Mevza League charts, now just three points behind defending champions and unbeaten competition leaders ACH Volley Ljubljana.
The guests, on the other hand, are still sitting in third place two points ahead of Final Four tournament hosts and compatriots SK Zadruga AICH/DOB.
Ahmed Ikhbayri was the man of the match after an impressive performance that ended with 35 points including two aces and three winning blocks, while Daan Streutker was the top scorer on the other side of the net with 19 points.

Sebastijan Škorc, head coach OK Merkur MARIBOR: “Congratulations, my players deserved to win today. We did not shine but due to illnesses and injuries it is understandable. We are happy to start 2022 with a victory. It is a reward for all the effort we put in during the holidays.

The competion will continue on Wednesday, when ACH Volley Ljubljana will face at home VKP Bratislava.
