CEV Cup: a decimated Belchatow defeats Burgas in first match of 1/8 finals

In first match of 2021/22 CEV Cup 1/8 finals, PGE Skra Belchatow had to fight until the fifth set (22:25, 26:24, 24:26, 25:21, 12:15) to overtake the Bulgarians of Neftohimik Burgas, revitalized in the second set by the entry of Lapkov in place of Uchikov.
Kovac’s side, however, was in an emergency, having presented themselves to the match with only 8 players (unique available setter was Szymon Ostrowski from team B, and thus he made his debut in the top division), because the rest of the team got stuck in Poland due to testing PCR that didn’t have
given clear result for 6 players.
The winners (with 21 points from Dick Kooy), were better in blocking with 15 points from this element, 7 by Bienek and 5 by Klos, but with only 40% of team attack.
