Poland: Jastrzębski and ZAKSA, still untouchable, win big matches. Victory also for Resovia

First three matches of Plusliga Round 17 were played on Saturday.
The 3rd-placed PGE Skra Belchatow and vice-leaders Jastrzębski Węgiel didn’t disappoint, as they staged a thriller from which the reigning champions emerged as winners. Predictions guessed well that it will be a very great duel, as both teams have recently won match after match.
Actually, Skra made an 8-game run, while Jastrzębski won 12 matches prior to today.
With the end result of tonight, the Jastrzębie-Zdrój side prevailed in 4 successive clashes with this rival who today surrender at tie break, after wasting a match point in fourth set.
MVP and top scorer of the match is Czech opposite Hadrava with 29 points, 51% in attack, 38% efficiency, 4 blocks e 5 aces).
Among the hosts, bad performance of Kooy (18% in attack and only -12% efficiency), replaced by a better Taht in last two sets, while the best is Bieniek, author of 14 points, 59% in attack, 53% efficiency and 1 block), and very dangerous from the service line (3 aces and 2 errors on 23 serves).
The decisive service’s turn however put the signature of Gladyr, author of decisive break from 5-5 to
5-8, that Belchatow can’t recover.

Even with a weakened lineup Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle was too strong for Projekt Warszawa in another big match of this.
The vice-champions couldn’t count on their most productive player and the league leader in MVP award this season, Łukasz Kaczmarek, but kept the unbeaten run of 16 games to remain leaders in the current charts.
Lot of problems for hosts’ outside-hitters: 0% and -33% efficiency in attack on 12 attempts for Grobelny, started from the bench the other starter Kwolek, who closed the game with 38% and 12% efficiency in attack.
On the other hand, the guys around head coach Cretu reply with an excellent Sliwka (top scorer of his team with 18 points, 81% and 71% efficiency in attack, and Huber, named MVP of the match thanks to his 8 winning blocks.

On the evening match, Asseco Resovia Rzeszów (without Deroo) narrowly avoided a huge upset at home against PSG Stal Nysa.
The last-placed side forced the match to the tie-break but failed to take it.
MVP Kochanowski with 17 points, 57% and 50% efficiency in attack, 5 blocks, 4 aces and only 2 errors on 23 serves. However, the decisive ace that favorite the decisive break in fifth set put the signature of Muzaj (13-11) while Kozamernik put down the last point (15-13).
