2 min read

CEV Challenge Cup semi-finalists ACH Volley Ljubljana celebrated their 12th Mevza League title on Sunday night.
The defending champions from Slovenia celebrated a 3-1 (25:14, 20:25, 25:22, 25;14) win over Croatiaā€™s reigning national champions HAOK Mladost Zagreb in the gold medal match at the Final Four tournament held at the JUFA Arena Bleiburg.
Slovenian side was the clear favourites, as they have not suffered a single loss in their 18 Mevza League matches they have contested this season!

ACH Volleyā€™s Nikola Gjorgiev was the top scorer of the match with 23 points, while his teammates Jan Pokersnik and Nemanja Masulovic scored 11 each. Boris Busa (14) and Ivan Zeljkovic (11) were the most prolific player on the other side.

On the other match of the day, final four hosts SK Zadruga Aich/Dob has successfully completed the Mevza League Final Four: in fact they secured the bronze medal celebrating a 3:0 (25:21, 25:21, 31:29) victory over the Slovenian champions and Champions League participants OK Merkur Maribor. In the semi-final duel with ACH Volley Ljubljana on Saturday night, new head coach Bogdan Tanase was on the sidelines for the first time, and in the second game, under the 40-year-old Romanian’s leadership, there was a surprise against a top team.

Aich/Dob’s top scorers were Marino Marelic (15), Xander Ketrzynski (12) and Nicolai GrabmĆ¼ller (11), while Ahmed Abulubaba Khbayri (21) was the most prolific player among the guests.
For the winners, this was fifth Mevza League podium (title in 2019).

That was an incredible performance by our players. To beat the Slovenian champions, is really something to be proud of. Our team has a lot of quality, we just have to become more consistent. If we can do so, we will also be able to bring the Austrian Volley League title back to Bleiburg later this season,
said Aich/Dob sports director Martin Micheu.
