Poland: a tired Jastrzębski earn hard-fought win over Olsztyn. Three points also for ZAKSA and Lubin

2 min read

Other three matches of Plusliga Round 23 were played today.

After an excellent match in the CEV Champions League against Italian powerhouse Cucine Lube Civitanova, the vice-leader Jastrzębski Węgiel faced 6th-placed Indykpol AZS Olsztyn, who stood up to the favorites but lost 1-3.
It was an exciting match, dominated by the Olsztyn opposite Karol Butryn, who ended the match with 31 points, 63% and 53% efficiency in attack, 2 blocks and 2 aces).
Guests with several absences: starting setter Firlej left ok the bench (injured), Defalco leave the field after first sets and Jakubiszak who replaced a not excellent Averill in second set.
As for the winning side, the Czech Jan Hadrava, MVP of the match put down 27 points, 64% and 57% efficiency in attack, 1 block and 5
aces, and Tomasz Fornal made 75% reception (20 digs, 2 errors, 35% perfect) and 18 points with 71% attack (15/21).

In second afternoon match, Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle defeated GKS Katowice 3-0 without major problems and kept top spot in the chart, with 1 point and 1 win more than Jastrzębski. They left only 55 points to the rivals, without Rousseaux and with a bad day of Jarosz (ended on the bench with 1 point and 0% efficiency in attack). Once again Kaczmarek (17 points, 70% and 61% efficiency in attack, 1 block) and Semeniuk (16 points, 63% and 50% efficiency in attack, 1
ace) were the favorite spikers of setter MVP Janusz.

Almost relegated Stal Nysa: in the evening match they suffered a 3-0 defeat from Cuprum Lubin, in a result maybe too punitive due the balance of first and sets. Surprisingly MVP of the match Bociek who, with 20 points (71% and 67% efficiency in attack and 3 aces), did not regret starter Kapica’s absence.
