Italy: Lube defeat Monza in four sets to take first ticket for semifinals!

Vero Volley Monza impose a great fight even without Grozer, but it is Cucine Lube Civitanova the first to go to semifinals of the 2021/22 Italian Volleyball Championship playoffs.

Game 2 of the 2021/22 SuperLega Credem Banca playoff quarter-finals against No. 7 Monza wasn’t easy for regular season vice-leaders from Civitanova. Despite taking the field without one of the best opposites in the world, German superstar Georg Grozer, Monza gave hard time to favorites in front of their home fans, succumbing after a 4-set battle. Partially it was 26:28, 25:19, 17:25 and 23:25.

Brazilian Ricardo Lucarelli top-scored the winners with 22 points and was named MVP of the match, while Cuban Robertlandy Simón also contributed with 12 points and 4 blocks. After sweeping the quarter-final series, Lube now await the rivals in the best-of-5 semis.
And they are one between Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and Itas Trentino, now 0-1 in the series.
