Italy: three points for Verona (3-0 over Taranto) and Piacenza (3-0 over Cisterna) in playoffs for 5th place

After the advance between Milano and Monza played yesterday, the other two matches valid for Round 1 of 2021/22 Superlega CredemBanca Playoffs 5th Place were played today.

After a first set hard fought, almost all easy for Verona (without Mozic, Aguenier and Cortesia) who defeat at home a decimated Gioiella Prisma Taranto (with only 8 players!) in straight sets (28:26, 25:22, 25:17). The difference was absolutely the performance in blocking of the two sides: 11 winning blocks for the winners, 0 for Taranto.

Straight sets victory (25:18, 25:22, 25:22) also for Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza over a bad Top Volley Cisterna, who never entered the field. Lagumdzija and Russell were the men of the match, with 33 points in two, 17 for first, 16 for American outside-hitter.
