Italy: Final Game 1 is already a show! Lube defeat Perugia at tie break.

After 5 sets and two hours and 19 minutes of a play, No.2 Cucine Lube Civitanova defeat regular season absolute leaders Sir Safety Conad Perugia in Game 1 of the 2021/22 Italian Superlega CredemBanca finals.
The Final couldnāt have started in a more spectacular way.
Just like in the semi-final series against Leo Shoes PerkinElmer Modena, the home factor lost significance already in Game 1, with Lube managing to win the 5-set (17:25, 28:26, 25:20, 17:25, 13:15) duel full of surprises and overturns at PalaBarton. Lube dominated the first and fourth set, Perugia react in the second and third, so the verdict was postponed to the tie break.
In it, Lube wasted a 8-4 lead, but then they prevailed.
Cuban Robertlandy SimĆ³n finished the match as Lubeās the top scorer with 20 points, making 82% attack (14/17, 3 winning blocks and 3 aces). Good performance also for Yant, with 19 points and 59% and there is another good news: the entrance of Osmany Juantorena, after a long absence from courts, for a few rallies in the second set. Luxembourger Kamil Rychlicki scored 14 points for Perugia.
The winners were better in attack (42% vs. 52%) and from the service line (4 aces vs. 9, but with 27 errors), while the hosts were better in blocking (11 vs. 7, 8 only in second set!).
Lube starts the game in an almost perfect way with Simon from the service line for the 3-6, and De Cecco for the 4-9. Perugia struggle in attack with only 36% in first set. The same Simon blocks SolĆ© for the 14-20, and Perugia failed to enter the game, suffering also on Zaytsevās serves, 15-22. The set ended in fact with a clear 17-25.
It is a great Lube also in second set, 1-4, but this time Perugia react, and two winning blocks from SolĆ© level the score, 4-4. Balance until two aces from Yant, for the 12-15. De Cecco signs the 14-18, but Rychlicki doesnāt agree and, with 5 points and 62% in attack in this set, create the comeback, also thanks to Lucarelli, first blocked from Anderson, and then send out the ball of 18-18. Zaytsev struggle a lot in attack (1/8), and Perugia is great in blocking. They squander three set points, but they close at fourth attempt 28-26 with a winning block from Rychlicki on Yant.
Balance also in third set, with the hosts able to make a break with an ace from Giannelli and a point from Anderson, that is worth the 14-12. Yant in attack levels the score again, and then two heavy errors give the 18-15 to Perugia, who can count on Anderson and Rychlicki. Ricci put down the ball of 23-19, as well as the one that close the set 25-20. And it’s 2-1 Perugia!
Lube starts fourth set with Diamantini in place of Anzani as middle-blocker. A super Simon score the 0-3, De Cecco the 2-6 and, despite Perugia try to react with a winning block from Giannelli for the 5-6, Lucarelli scores the ace of 6-10. The guests were almost perfect in attack, with an infallible Simon (6 points and 100% in attack in this part or the game, including the one of 11-17). All easy for Lube, who can close again with an ace from Simon, 17-25.
Tie break, and Diamantini remains to the court, scoring the winning block before a rally closed by De Cecco, 3-6. Block also for Lucarelli, who score also the attack of 4-8. The match is over? Absolutely no, as Perugia react with Plotnytskyi from the service line. Perugia rise again, signing the ball of 9-8. However, an error and a block from Simon are worth the 10-11, and Simon again put down the match ball, 12-14. Yant’s serve is out, but Simon close set and game 13-15!
