VNL 2022: USA defeat France in big match of Pool 5. Three points for Germany and Brazil

The third day of the third week of the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Nations League preliminary stage brought in the names of the three participants of the Final 8 in addition to the hosts Italy, and these are the United States and France.
In their encounter against France in Pool 5 in Osaka, Japan, the Americans rallied comeback from a set down to win 3-2 (15:25, 25:22, 22:25, 25:14, 15:8). It was their eighth triumph in 10 games played so far. With a 7-2 win-loss record and 22 points overall, the point gained had put the Olympic winners France (as many as 40 errors vs 28 of the USA!) at a total of 22 points and fourth position, giving them enough time to begin preparing for their journey to Bologna for the Finals. Aaron Russell top-scored the winners today with 18 points, including three blocks and two aces.
“I always think I can do better, but I think it was a great team win for us,ā he said after the match. āEverybody played well in defence and we were really flowing in side-out too. It was good for us to respond to those tough matches that we lost and be able to win in five sets. The last time I stepped on the court I was maybe one of the younger or middle-aged guys. Now itās fun to be able to step into this more important role and give guidance and support to the young guys.”
In second game of the day, Germany back to the victory by beating Australia by 3-1 (20:25, 25:16, 25:21, 26:24). Outside hitter Moritz Reichert was the man of the match with 22 points to his name however, currently ranked 11th with four wins and ten points, Germany can no longer make it to the Finals because they have only one more match to play. As one of the core teams, they are guaranteed to be back in the VNL next season.
In third and last game Brazil defeat Canada 0-3 (18:25, 19:25, 16:25) without lot of difficult to retain Final 8 chances.
