WCH 2022: All results of August 29 @ Katowice – Poland

Atanasijević’s service bombs keep Puerto Rico on a safe distance from Serbia for a spot in 1/8 finals.
The Serbia National Team achieved today the second 3-0 victory in as many games at the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship.
In the second round of Pool A in Katowice, Poland, they defeated Puerto Rico 3-0, partially 26:24, 25:21, and 25:16, and secured a spot in the 1/8 finals, having a full set of 6 points at the moment.
Igor Kolaković’s side were absolute favorites against the Caribbeans but had a bit too many ups and downs given the rating of their today’s rivals. This above all in the opening part of the match, when Serbia dropped a 5-point lead and questioned the winning of the first set.
Aleksandar Atanasijević was the top scorer among the winners with 12 points, recording half of them from the service line, while Klistan Lawrence scored 16 for Puerto Rico.

Beating the reigning African champions Tunisia in same Ukraine, who’s competing in the World Champs for the first time since 1998 to replace disqualified Russia, earned their first victory in this year’s edition of the competition. To that, Ukraine was led by bomber Oleg Plotnytskyi, who fired 5 aces and collected a total 14 points in a 3-0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:15) win, while Maksym Drozd set up 6 blocks. Elyes Karamosli scored 10 points on the other side.
