Italy: Lube too strong for Modena in big match of Round 3. Cisterna to the top! Piacenza down Trentino for their first win, Taranto and Milano ok

Round 3 of 2022/23 SuperLega Credem Banca has been completed today.
In first match of the day, Allianz Milano defeated newcomers Emma Villas Aubay Siena in straight sets (25:18, 29:27, 25:17). This was the first three-points-win for Milano, despite the absence of Captain Matteo Piano and japanese superstar Yuki Ishikawa (both on the bench). French opposite Jan Patry was named MVP of the match with 20 points, 56% in attack, one block and one ace, while Osniel Mergarejo also contributed with 14.

Cucine Lube Civitanova redeemed themselves for losing to Padova in the previous round by downing Valsa Group Modena in just three sets 3-0 (25:21, 25:13, 25:19) in the classic of Italian volleyball. Croatian Petar Djirlić top-scored for the winners with 20 points, while Serbian opposite Dušan Petković put down 19 points for Padova.

Gas Sales Piacenza’s ’dream team’ has finally celebrated first victory for which it took them three matches in this season. The good news for home fans is that first success came against the European vice-champions Itas Trentino, whose form is not quite satisfying given their ambitions.
Piacenza prevailed even without the Cuban-Brazilian star Yoandy Leal at their disposal, thanks to 16 points from Yuri Romanò and 4 blocks from Edoardo Caneschi. Daniele Lavia scored 18 points for Trentino, while Serbian middle blocker, Srećko Lisinac added 6 blocks.
