Austria: Hypo Tirol down Aich/Dob! Three points also for Waldviertel, Ried, and Sokol (who celebrate first win)

Round 4 of Austrian Volley League 2022/23 has been completed today with last four matches.
Hypo Tirol down Aich/Dob, defending champions Waldviertel wins the Lower Austria Derby, Sokol celebrates their first win and Ried easily defeated Klagenfurt.

In details, the reworked Hypo Tirol continued their successful run also on Saturday. The Innsbruck side won the big match in front of about 600 home fans against SK Zadruga Aich/Dob in just three sets (25:23, 25:14, 25:22) and they are still undefeated after four rounds! Vice-champion Aich/Dob, on the other hand, suffered their second defeat after the defeat at the start of the season in Ried.
The winners were able to made a decisive break from 16:16 to 21:17 in first set. In second set they escape from 4:3 to 16:5 and had no problem to take a 2:0 lead. Top scorers of the games were Arthur Nath (17) and Luan Weber (15) for Hypo Tirol, and Anastasios Aspiotis (10) and Arwin Kopschar (8) on the
losing side.

Straight sets win also for titleholders Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, undefeated after 4 rounds. Today they won the Lower Austria derby in the Stadthalle Zwettl against VCA Amstetten in front of almost 500 spectators (25:23, 25:19, 25:22) and defended also the leadership in the charts. Top scorer of the game Marek Meciar (14) and Michael Czerwinski (16). The winners are one point ahead of HYPO TIROL with the maximum number of points and a perfect set ratio (12:0).

Also the other two matches of the day ended in straight sets: UVC McDonald’s Ried did not show any problem against last-placed VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt (25:22, 25:19, 25:18) and improved their fifth place. Top scorers Tomasz Rutecki (16) and Felix Friedl (12) while, in the fourth game of the evening, TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien celebrated their first win of the season against VBC TLC Weiz with 25:17, 25:19, 25:19 to climb to seventh place. Top scorers of the game Jan Stefko (14) and Marios Stroukarevits (13).
