Italy: a super Trento prevail in A22 derby to increase Modena’s crisis

Itas Trentino celebrated a four-set triumph over Valsa Group Modena in the big match of the 11th round played in advance (the other matches, in addition to another tomorrow, are scheduled on December) of the 2022/23 Italian SuperLega Credem Banca.
Trento and Modena, the two big rivals in Italian volleyball, locked horns in the so-called A22 derby (derby dell’A22, from the Autostrada A22 – one of the motorways in Italy, connecting the cities of these two Superlega’s powerhouses).
The match was moved to today as it coincided with the 2022 FIVB Club World Championship, in which Trentino will take part.
And they conquered PalaPanini with a score of 1-3 (partially 21:25, 21:25, 27:25 and 20:25) with Trentino’s Lisinac and Modena’s Ngapeth even getting red cards!
The players around Angelo Lorenzetti take their second consecutive victory (following three defeats in a row) after Sunday’s tie break over Top Volley Cisterna.
Despite the fact that it’s the early part of the season, we must say that Modena, projected to fight for title and not only this season, is in a crisis. That’s why this was their fourth defeat in five games, and the third defeat in a row, in what is really a disappointing start.
The Bulgarian veteran outside hitter Matey Kaziyski played once again a great game and ended as top scorer for Trento with 23 points, while Serb Srećko Lisinac made 4 blocks. The Turkish opposite Adis Lagumdžija scored 19 points for Modena.
