Poland: Warszawa make upset in Round 6 and wreck Bełchatów! Olsztyn and new leaders Resovia ok

Sarurday’s Round 6 of the 2022/23 Plusliga started with an upset in Bełchatów.
The home side PGE Skra Bełchatów was a clear favorite in the clash with Projekt Warszawa, but it had to recognize the superiority of its rivals, as the game ended in just three sets: 0-3 (17:25, 23:25, 11:25).
Both teams started the season with defeats, but Bełchatów did better in the next games.
Probably the problem with the team from Polish capital today was that injuries which didn’t allow them to play with the full squad. Hence, they recorded four defeats in as many games before breaking such a negative streak a week ago.
Belgian Igor Grobelny top-scored for the winners with 22 points including 3 winning blocks and 2 aces, making 81% attack (17/21).

The day continued with who straight sets victories.
Indykpol AZS Olsztyn defeat at home newcomers BBTS Bielsko-Biała (25:17, 25:15, 25:18), with Karol Butryn named MVP of the game with 14 points, 73% in attack and 5 aces, while in the evening Asseco Resovia Rzeszów earned another great win, this time on the field of Cerrad Enea Czarni Radom (21:25, 20:25, 16:25), without lot of problem.
And now they are new leaders in the standings with 17 points, where they’ll remain at least until next Round.
