Italy: Cisterna down titleholders Lube! Three points for Milano, Modena, Trento and Verona

Round 7 of 2022/23 SuperLega Credem Banca has been completed today.

In first scheduled match, four sets win for Allianz Milano on the field of Pallavolo Padova (30:28, 23:25, 19:25, 18:25). After a great first sets, ended overtime, and a second in which the hosts wasted a five points lead, Milano grow up and managed to take three very precious points. MVP of the game Cuban Osniel Mergarejo, who entered from the game and was decisive in hot moments of the match. He scored 11 points, 53% in attack and two aces.

Three points after a four sets away win also for Valsa Group Modena, who struggled more than expected on the field of newcomers Emma Villas Aubay Siena (15:25, 25:19, 25:27, 23:25) however, the real upset of the day, is made by Top Volley Cisterna.
They up-and-down play has seemingly taken a positive turn again as they downed the titleholders Cucine Lube Civitanova.
Cisterna seemingly woke up from hibernation and found themselves back on the winning path. The team commanded by Fabio Soli beat the titleholders in just three sets (25:19, 25:19, 26:24), dominating for the most part of the match on their home soil. Thus, after suffering three straight defeats, which followed the same number of wins in a row, Cisterna managed to move up again to the top 4 in the standings, more precisely third place. Today they earned a deserved and important victory against Lube, who haven’t yet found their rhythm, probably tired also from the Champions League midweek match, in which they had to recover from a 0-2 deficit. Croatian Petar Djirlić was Cisterna’s top scorer in the match with 20 points, while Bulgarian Aleksandar Nikolov put down 14 for Lube.

The day continue with Itas Trentino who routinely defeated Gioiella Prisma Taranto in straight sets (25:17, 25:21, 25:17) in front of their home fans, with very good numbers: Kaziyski 16 points with 64%, Michieletto 15 and 60% (including 3 winning blocks), Lavia 12 with 62% (and 2 winning block, as well as the MVP award). Very good also Podrascanin: 60% in attack, 3 blocks and 2 aces, for a total of 8 points, but all in decisive moments of the match.
In the evening, also WithU Verona celebrated a straight sets win over a disappointing Vero Volley Monza (25:19, 25:17, 25:14).
With this result, the winners reach the fifth place in the standings with 11 points. With 15 points, malian Noumory Keita was named MVP of the match, while there were no players in double digits on the other side of the net.
