Mevza League: 3 points for Mursa, Aich/Dob, Myjava and Kamnik

2 min read

Second week of 2022/23 Mevza League continued on this day with other three games and without major upsets..more or less.
The day started with a straight sets win of MOK Mursa Osijek over OK Mladost Ribola Kaštela (25:19, 25:18, 25:22) in Croatian derby, and continued with Austrian derby, in which SK Zadruga AICH/DOB defeated country’s titleholders Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel with the same result (25:14, 25:21, 27:25), confirming the bad moment of the rivals, who suffered several defeats in a row counting all competitions (including CEV Cup, just a week ago). Anastasios Aspiotis was the most prolific player of the game with 17 points through 56% in attack and 2 winning blocks, while Johannes Kratz also contributed with 6 of his team’s 11 aces, an element who really made the difference in this duel.
Led by Tobiaš Viskup, top scorer of the match with 22 points, and also thanks to a great performance in blocking (14 points from this element), Slovakia’s TJ Spartak Myjava defeated at home Austria’s VCA Amstetten NÖ by 3-1 (19:25, 25:19, 25:18, 25:13) while, in Slovenian derby, OK Calcit Kamnik defeated OK Merkur Maribor with the same result (18:25, 25:19, 25:16, 25:22) in last match of the day.
Luis Sosa Sierra ended the game as top scorer with 21 points to his name, including 1 ace and 3 of his team’s 14 winning blocks, a team that confirmed itself on second place in the current standings with 11 points, -1 from leaders ACH Volley Ljubljana, who tomorrow will face the same Maribor.
