France: Chaumont defeat Montpellier in advance of Round 12

Round 12 of 2022/23 Ligue A started today with a big match, as well as a remake of last edition of French Supercup, including the court, played in October as new season’s debut.
However, today’s result was totally different, as hosts Chaumont down titleholders (and SuperCup winners) Montpellier in just three sets (25:22, 28:26, 25:21).
The winners were better in blocking (12 to 7) and from the service line (8 aces to 3), but also in decisive moment of the game, above all in second set, ended overtime and in which they wastes a 21-18 lead.
Czech Patrick Indra ended the game as top scorer with 16 points to his name through 48% in attack (and was named MVP), while Romanian outside hitter Adrian Aciobanitei also contributed with 13. Theo Faure scored 15 points on the losing side.
With this result, Chaumont temporarily take the lead in the standings, waiting for Tours, who will face Nantes tomorrow in front of their home fans in a direct clash for third place.
