Austria: what happened in Round 10 – another (but hard fought) win for leaders Hypo Tirol, and the others…

Round 10 of Austrian Bundesliga 2022/23 has been played entirely on Saturday.
Absolute leaders Hypo Tirol VT celebrated another great win, this time hard fought, in big match on the field TSV Raffeisen Hartberg.
The game ended at tie break (25:17, 21:25, 19:25, 25:23, 21: 19) and, with this result, the Innsbruck side extended the championship lead to six points, while the Styrians lost second place and are now third. In the tie-break, the hosts were 11:14 behind, but then made four points in a row. However, the undefeated leaders managed to cancel three match points before close the game in their favor.

The new second place is VCA Amstetten NÖ, with the same number of points than the same Hartberg. The Mostviertler won the clash against VBC TLC Weiz 3-1 (25:23, 28:30, 25:19, 25:18) on their home court. Top scorers: of the game Michael Czerwinski (16) and Marios Stroukarevits (14).

Vice champion SK Zadruga Aich/Dob celebrated a 3-0 (25:16, 25:23, 25:19) home win over UVC McDonald’s Ried, overtook the Innviertler and climbing to fourth place in the current charts. Defending champions Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel also put themselves ahead of Ried, and in their home game against VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt, who remain to the bottom of the standings, confidently confirmed their role as favorite with a clear 3-0 (25:21, 25:20, 25:16). Top scorers were Niklas Stooß (15) and Arthur Duzevich (11).

Close the picture UVC Holding Graz, who celebrated an important away win in the fight for a playoff ticket, beating TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien 3-0 (25:23, 25:20, 25:22) to improve seventh place. Sokol is now eighth, one point ahead of Weiz. Top scorers of the game were Raphael Trauth (14) and Anes Perezic (11).
