Austrian Cup: Waldviertel and Hypo Tirol to the final!

1 min read

Defending champions Union Waldviertel and current leaders Hypo Tirol are in the ÖVV Cup final, at the beginning of February.
While titleholders were able to win in three sets against outsiders TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien in their Stadthalle Zwettl on Wednesday evening, Innsbruck had to fight hard in Bleiburg, on the field of SK Zadruga Aich/Dob!

Union Waldviertel celebrated a clear straight sets home win, partially 25:22, 25:11 and 25:21. The top scorers were Kyrylo Klochko (17) and Koendert Daan Streutker (16) for the hosts, and Raphael Trauth (10) and Jan Stefko (7) for the guests.
In the second semi-final, the hosts Aich/Dob wasted a 2-0 lead in sets, but then suffered a heavy comeback from Hypo Tirol, able to close the game after 131 minutes. Partially it was 22:25, 22:25, 26:24, 25:23 and 15:12. Head coach Stefan Chrtiansky’s team is still undefeated this season! Top scorers in the JUFA Arena were Anastasios Aspiotis (22) and Stefan Kaibald (19) for Aich/Dob, and Luan Weber (32) and Arthur Nath (22) for the winners.
