Champions League: Berlin close Round 5 with a clear straight sets win in Pool B

Round 5 of 2022/23 CEV Men’s Champions League has been officially closed today with the match between Bulgaria’s Hebar Pazardzhik and Berlin Recycling Volleys from Germany, in Pool B.
Berlin celebrated a clear 0-3 (20:25, 16:25, 20:25) win without major problems, being better than the the hosts basically in all elements (60% in attack vs. 40, 11 winning blocks vs. 3, 7 aces vs. 4, and 45% positive reception vs. 34%).
Czech Marek Sotola ended the game as absolute top scorer with 20 points through 64% in attack including 3 aces and 1 block, while no players in Hebar’s Jersey ended in double digit.
With this win, Berlin strengthen third place in the Pool at -2 from Aluron and Halkbank.
Thanks to their success on the penultimate day of the group stage, Berlin rose to eight points and got things very complicated in Pool B: the Bundesliga team will play the decisive game for a place in the next stage against Poland’s Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie as these two, plus Turkey’s Halkbank Ankara, vie for the two berths, with the last two teams having bigger chances….
