Austria: what happened in Round 14 – another win for leaders Hypo Tirol. Aich/Dob, Weiz and Ried ok

Round 14 of 2022/23 Bundesliga started today, waiting for the duel between VCA Amstetten NÖ (who parted way with head coach Andrej Urnaut) and TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, scheduled on Tuesday.

Absolute (and undefeated) leaders Hypo Tirol achieved their 14th victory in a row in as many as games, gave UVC Holding Graz no chance on Saturday evening in their USI hall, beat the champion of 2021 in only 78 minutes 3-0 (25:18, 25:20, 25:15). Head coach Stefan Chrtiansky starts with setter Milan Jovanovic instead of captain Daniel Koncal. Top scorers of the game was HYPO TIROL opposite Luan Weber (13), and his teammates Arthur Nath and Kronthaler (12 each).

Zadruga Aich/Dob also won the third duel of the season across all competitions with Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel, defeating titleholders in the Stadthalle Zwettl at tie break (25:22, 25:17, 18:25, 20:25, 15:10). For the Carinthians it was the third success this week: in Mevza League, they defeated the Croatian champions Mladost Zagreb and VCA Amstetten NÖ, both in three sets. Aich/Dob improved to third place in the table, at least until Tuesday.

Thanks to a 3-1 (27:25, 25:21, 20:25, 25:19) win against last-placed VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt (PHOTOGALLERY OF THE MATCH), still winless, VBC TLC Weiz improved to seventh place and is now one point ahead of Graz and already six ahead of TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien; who suffered a defeat against UVC McDonald’s Ried 1-3 (25:27, 25:22, 18:25, 23:25), even wasting a 24:21 lead in the first set.
