Austria | Semifinals Game 2 |Hypo Tirol 2-0 in best-of-5 series! Aich/Dob – Hartberg 1-1

Title favorite and absolute regular season winners Hypo Tirol volleyball team are only one win away from Powerfusion AVL Men final series. The Innsbruck side defeated UVC McDonald’s Ried on the road 3-2 (25:14, 22:25, 25:19, 23:25, 15:12). After 124 minutes of play, top scorers of the game were Tomasz Rutecki and Niklas Etlinger with 17 each for Ried, and Luan Weber (24) and Niklas Kronthaler (23) for the winners.

SK Zadruga Aich/Dob, last season’s runners-up, managed to equalize in the “Best-of-5” semi-final series with a home win against TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, 3-1 (25:18, 27:25, 34:36, 25:20).
The hosts confidently took the first set and also got off to a good start in the second (8-4). Hartberg leveled the score (11-11) and the set continued in a very balaced way but, in the decisive phase, Aich/Dob advanced again and used his fourth set ball to lead 2-0. In the third set, the hosts take a good advantage (16-12), but Hartberg react again (17-17). The set, played on a high level, ended 34:36 in favor of the visiting side, with Aich/Dob who earned seven match points, but failed to close the game in straight sets. The hosts, however, were able to control the decisive four set, taking a 14-8 led and didn’t allowed the rivals to make a comeback again. The top scorers were Zlatan Yordanov (28) and Johannes Kratz (20) for the winners, and Đorđe Knezevic (24) and Dmytro Fedorenko (21) for Hartberg.

The semi-final series will continue on Saturday in Innsbruck and Hartberg.
