France: Chaumont and Tourcoing last semifinalists! Saint Nazaire and Narbonne defeated in Game 5

The exciting Quarterfinals Series of 2022/23 Ligue A Playoffs has been completed today with the last 2 Games that revealed the names of the two teams who joined regular season leaders Tours and No.2 Nantes, both qualified after just three games.

After winning first two home games in three and four sets respectively, No.3 in regular season Chaumont suffered the comeback of newcomers and sixth placed Saint Nazaire, who won the next two games in front of their home fans to impact the score: 2-2.
And today, back to their home soil, the players around italian expert Silvano Prandi managed to close the series after a thrilling 3-2 (25:23, 23:25, 22:25, 25:17, 15:9), led by an almost unstoppable Patrick Indra, who ended the game as top scorer and MVP with 27 points through 64% in attack, including 1 block and 1 ace.
And in fact a very good match in attack was one of the key of this victory, with 60% of team performance against 51% of a good Saint Nazaire too, led in score by Mendes Spencer and Kyle Ensing, who scored 20 and 19 points respectively.
On Sunday Chaumont will face Nantes in best-of-three semifinal series.

A little bit different the quarterfinals path of No.4 in regular season Narbonne, who won Game 1 at home, suffered a four sets heavy defeat in Game 2, followed by two thrilling games in Tourcoing both ended at tie break: the first one won by the hosts, who managed to take the lead in the series, and the second by Narbonne, who tie the score, 2-2, and take the chance to play the decider on their home soil.
And it was Tourcoing to confirm the good moment, playing an absolute better game won with a score of 1-3 (23:25, 21:25, 29:27, 22:25) in 2 hours of play.
More aggressive and better in the key moments of the game, Tourcoing can count on a very good Renan Buiatti, top scorer of the game with 21 points, 1 block and 57% in attack, and MVP Moritz Karlitzek, who also contributed with 16.
In what was a very nervous game, also the block was decisive for the winners, who scored 11 points from this element (4 by Simon Roehrig) against the 6 of the hosts, who now will play for 5th Place.
Tourcoing will play on the field regular season winners Tours in Game 1 of Semifinal, that will start on Sunday.
