Bulgaria: 2022/23 title to Neftochimik Burgas!

After 3 seasons, Neftochimik Burgas celebrated a national title in Bulgaria again, the fifth in club’history.
And they did it after a thrilling match against titleholders in last two seasons Hebar Pazardzhik, winning the decisive Game 5 after an exciting series.
So no “triplete” for Hebar, who in this season had already won Bulgarian Cup ane Supercup.
Neftochimik, after closing regular season as leaders, already struggled a lot against CSKA Sofia, while Hebar closed the series against Levski Sofia in just three sets.
In short, in final, the Burgas’ side won first two home games (3-2, 3-1), and then suffered the rivals’ comeback (3-2, 3-0).
And also decisive Game 5 ended at tie break (25:17, 25:23, 21:25, 22:25, 15:12) in favor of the hosts and their home fans.
Outside hitter Kaloyan Balabanov closed the game ad top scorer with 26 points (3 winning blocks, 3 aces, 47% efficiency in attack and 36% positive reception) while MVP award went to the new player of Italian Superlega’s club Verona Volley Alex Truhtchev (19 points including 1 block, 46% efficiency in attack and 38% positive reception). 19 punti also for Matei Mihajlovic while, on the losing side, Giulio Sabbi was the top scorer with 22 points (3 blocks and 46% di efficiency).
