Portugal: fourth title in a row for Benfica. Fonte Bastardo defeated in straight sets in decisive Game 5!

Portuguese Championship ended, again, in favor of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
The team from country’s capital celebrated the national title for the fourth time in a row, the eleventh in club history, closing 3-0 decisive Game 5 (25:18, 25:16, 26:24) a long and hard fought series against AJ Fonte Bastardo.
The rivals, in fact, managed to won at tie break both games on their home soil, forcing the rivals at tie break also in Game 2 in Lisbona.
Last two games in the capital, however, ended in just three sets.
Top scorer of the final Brazilian Japa with 16 punti and, on the losing side, Edson Valencia from Venezuela with 11.
The final was also the last game of 40-years-old outside hitter AndrĂŠ Lopes, who announced his retirement at the end of the match.
This is the end of a career lasted 24 years, 13 with Benfica’s jersey, with 7 titles and an European League won with his National Team.
For Benfica this was the second success of 2022/23 season after National Cup, while Fonte Bastardo won the Supercup.
