Türkiye national volleyball team achieved a remarkable victory at the Volleyball Challenger Cup 2023 in Doha, Qatar.
After suffering defeats in their 2019 and 2022 campaigns, now they finally made their dream of competing in the Volleyball Nations League come true by clinching the trophy and a berth in the VNL 2024.
In the thrilling final duel, Türkiye came from behind to down a very resilient Qatar in an exciting five-set showdown.
The winners, also thanks to some excellent individual performances, claimed a 3-2 (25:13, 21:25, 25:18, 22:25, 15:9) victory, a result that not only signified their first ever Challenger Cup triumph but also marked their rise to the elite volleyball.
Turkish star Adis Lagumdzija ended the game as top scorer with 21 points, followed by Efe Bayram with 18 points and Burutay Subasi with 15 while, on the losing side, Mubarak Dahi Walid was the top scorer with 12 points.
The bronze medals were taken home by Ukraine. In their inaugural Challenger Cup appearance, they secured a place on the podium
after a clear 3-0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:18) against Chile in the match for third place.
