Eurovolley2023: 3 points for Germany and Italy against a not-received Serbia in Pool A. Straight sets win also for Slovenia and Croatia in Pool B
3 min read
CEV Eurovolley 2023 continued today with a double straight sets win in last day of Pool A in Perugia, Italy.
Prediction respected in the first one, in which Germany, with a little bit turnover (icluding the diagonal Kampa-Grozer on the bench), down the modest Switzerland (25:14, 25:16, 25:21) after 74 minutes of play, with 10 points each from Kaliberda (all in attack, with an impressive 77%) and Röhrs, who made even better (10/11, 1 error and 91%!).
No players on the other side of the net reached a double digit, although Switzerland played a good third sets, above all at the start and on the final, with 3 aces in a row from Anes Perezic who rocked Germany.
Straight sets win also for an almost unrecognizable Serbia against the hosts and titleholders Italy, who were better in all elements and boasted four players in double digit: Daniele Lavia, top scorer of the match with 13 points and an excellent 71% in attack, including 2 blocks and 1 ace, Alessandro Michieletto with 12, Yuri Romanó with 11 and middle blocker Roberto Russo with 10, including 4 winning blocks. No players for Serbia reached a double digit.
For Italy, this was the third win in as many games.
Pool A will continue on Sunday on the same country but in Ancona.
Double straight sets win also in Pool B in Varna, Bulgaria.
Slovenia easily defeat Finland, with a clear 0-3 (21:25, 19:25, 22:25) to fly to the top of the standings with 6 points, with 17 points from Rok Mozic (61% in attack and 3 blocks), while Jiri Hänninen, the only player in double digit on the losing side, scored 15 points (60% in attack, 1 block and Finland’s two aces).
No problems also for Croatia, who down Spain (25:19, 25:20, 25:22) with 8 winning blocks and led by Petar Dirlic, top scorer of the match with 16 points, and Marko Sedlaček, who also contributed with 15.
